Nadir Godrej is Chairperson of Godrej Industries Group. He holds degrees in chemical engineering from MIT and Stanford, as well as an MBA from Harvard Business School, and serves on the boards of several Group companies.

You might not expect poetry at the heart of a corporate institution or at the close of a board meeting. But Nadir has always made space for verse in places where it’s least expected.

Engineer by training, poet by instinct, he treats language much like chemistry, something to test, combine, and transform. Across decades of leadership, his verses move easily between English and French, between milestone and memory, between the factual and the playful. That instinct revealed itself early, as seen in a letter to his grandmother, written when he was a young boy.

He’s written lines to mark milestones and has found music in facts. For this, he’s been honoured by the French government with the Ordre National du Mérite and the Légion d’Honneur, and is President of the Alliance Française de Bombay.
