A chemical business is what I run
And when all is said and done
In chemicals we well know
That cycles always come and go.
The global economy was down
And Indonesia made us frown.
Our raw materials come from there
They chose to be most unfair.
New export duties were introduced
So their producers were induced
For oleochemicals to be produced
At origin and not where used.
They kicked us with a heavy boot
And Malaysia also followed suit!
And in the ASEAN FTA
Unwittingly we gave away,
Without the slightest consultation,
The deepest interests of our nation.
Product duties were allowed to fall
While mandarins then took the call
To let all raw materials stay
At higher levels all the way.
Electricity rates are now a pain
And prices of gas are a real bane:
Through the year they rose and rose
And where they'll stop heaven knows.
For those who really like a thrill
And have the stomach and the skill
A roller-coaster can be fun.
And when all is said and done,
Going down's the biggest thrill
The stomach churns the screams are shrill.
It does feel good at the top
The excitement though is in the drop!
Knowing that you've faced the fear
And still come out in the clear
Makes you strong and makes you bold.
And all the learnings are pure gold
And as we fall we should get skilled.
And with these skills we can build
Momentum that will help us rise
Back again into the skies.
We took the problems in our stride
Decided to enjoy the ride.
Exports for us are nothing new
It's something that we always do.
In troubled times they give support
Right now we're looking for a port
Not stopped by the strikes we see
Continuously at JNPT.
With palm we found competing hard
So we pulled out another card.
Rape/Mustard helped to save the day
India's oil, in the traditional way,
Contains Erucic acid still.
Thinking this acid could make you ill,
Europe and Canada bred it away
And China's falling under their sway.
Their old variety production's way down
So India's the only game in town.
As this material's our very own
The products made from this have grown.
And as for the rising electricity rate
One of our factory's in Gujarat State.
In Gujarat one can easily trade.
Our company this year has paid
Much less for their electricity.
Alas! It is a real pity
That other states don't have this option.
So let us push for the adoption
Of trading in each and every state.
If we succeed that would be great.
Our anguished sighs are audible
For gas is now unaffordable.
For us this will be quite the spoiler
Until we get our latest boiler.
Now biomass is the new fuel
That will enable the renewal
Of our good fortune once again.
