Foreword

Although we don’t say it aloud,

Zoroastrians are rather proud

Of what their ancestors achieved.

And therefore this book was conceived.

And it has been a glorious story,

A tale filled with fame and glory.

Twenty-five centuries ago

Cyrus the Great was able to show

That with military might

And righteous rule, he could unite

Much of the world, then known to man.

And even the Bible was a fan-

Jerusalem’s temple was restored

And for this he was adored.

To other faiths he gave relief

Though he was firm in his belief.

Firdausi also plays a part,

He used his poetic art

To immortalize our myths and tales.

To read his epic never fails

To both instruct and inspire

And fill our spirit with holy fire.

But that was the ancient past

The glory days didn’t last.

We were shattered by the Arab wind.

A few stayed on some went to Hind.

And fortunately we could find

Hosts both welcoming and kind.

In our new home, we were secure

Although we were quite obscure.

But some of us then came to stay

In a newly booming town Bombay.

They played a role in its great rise,

Out of proportion to their size.

There was Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy

And the famous Dr. Dadabhoy

Naoroji and J N Tata,

Homi Bhaba and Jeh Tata.

For civic sense none was better

Than the great Pherozeshah Mehta.

We can't forget the Godrej brothers,

And you'll find several others.

Some will wonder if it’s fair,

Sanjay and Rajiv are also there.

But there is a reason why,

There dad ofcourse is the tie.

And yes, you´ll read of all these champs

For all of them are seen on stamps.

And that's the purpose of this book.
